October 18, 2011I believe the main difference is how its controlled, electronic or vacuum.
October 19, 2011Well Im not sure about the others but I`ve never had any problems with my 4L60E. It Shifts just fine and on time every time. But like I say Ive never owned any of the others.
If you cant duck it, @#%$ it!
October 19, 2011Hello people. Yes I`m new, and old lol... So this will be my first post, hope it helps out.
I`ve used trucks with both of them, and had problems with both.
The 4l60e is a new version of a 700r4, and yes the "E" stands for electronic. As the 700r4 used a kick down cable.
But in short the best thing to do with any trans is to keep heat out of it. Use a trans cooler and don`t make the mistake of going in the radiator with it, just run both trans cooler lines to the new cooler and it will be fine.
Good luck with it.
October 19, 2011also, in reguards to the 4L60e and the 4L80e, GM`s naming system goes like this, first number, speed, second letter: L=longitudnal (RWD/4x4) or T=Transverse (Fwd), third and fourth number, strength rating. higher the better. so a 4L80 is stronger than a 4L60, and same amount of speeds. a 6L80 has the same strength rating as the 4L80, but 2 additional speeds. i don`t know what the year to year strength rating is, but that is how they decide on their names. just FYI
Horsepower is how fast you were going when you hit the wall, Torque is how far you went after you hit the wall.
