February 25, 2011Over the last couple winter months the temperatures in Minnesota has been between about 20°F to -20°F and below. During this time I`ve noticed a few times where it seemed like the transmission was a little slower (5-10 seconds) to shift into reverse. Today the temp was-5°F and after sitting all day at work it would not move in reverse, it would just rev. ILuckely I was parked on a slight incline so I let it roll back and drove off in drive just fine..... after a few miles (about 4-5) I pulled over and tried reverse again. It went right into gear and was as strong as ever??? Now do I possible have a failing gear shift solenoid or actuator. When ever it`s above 20° it shift and functions just fine.
I have not had the fluid changed yet, but think it will be sooner than later.
FYI - I checked the tranny fluid when warn, level and in nuetral and it was low.... I added almost a quart, but see no leaks.
Any insite would be appreciated.
