June 14, 2010My 2001 silverado has been having some problems starting lately. Every time I turn the key, it just keeps cranking and it doesnt even seem to want to start. I then turn the off and try immediately to start again it it fires right up. Once its started up, it runs just fine. I have had this in the shop to try to figure it out but I have not had any luck. The filter is new, so that should not be the issue. I have also had the fuel system cleaned. The fuel pressure regulator was checked and according to them, it checked ok. They said it did not show signs of allowing pressure to bleed off. They only thing they did tell me was that they thought the fuel pump might be getting weak but that it was still showing good pressure while running. Other than that, they really dont know whats going on. They tried telling me that they could not re-create the problem I was having, but I have a hard time believing that since it happens to me everytime I start it. I feel like this was their way of not having to tell me that they did not know what the problem was.
Has anyone out there had this problem? Anyone know what it might be or how to fix it?
Thanks for the help.
