February 21, 2009I''m thinking about putting new wheels and tires on my truck and would like some input from you guys. The truck is a ''91 Silverado C1500 stepside lowered 2" in the front with spindles and 4" in the rear with shackles and hangers. What I am looking at is Wheel Vintiques Camaro style rallye wheels, 16x8 with 4" back spacing for the front, and 16x10 with 5" back spacing for the rear. The tires would be BF Goodrich Radial T/A 285/60/16 for front and rear. The tire specs say for wheel widths of 8 to 10 inches which would be what i''m looking at. I know there wouldn''t be any rear fender clearance issues due to the 10" wide wheel, i''m more concerned with the inside of the 16" diameter front wheel contacting the lower A arm on tight turns. The factory 15" wheels did touch that area in a tight turn due to the drop spindles. By the way I have 20x9 wheels with 5" back spacing front and rear with 275/45/20 tires now with no contact issues anywhere.
Will the 10" wide on the rear be to wide (look dumb *or* stick out to far)? Should I use 8" on the rear instead? Will the tires look good on both 8 and 10 inch wheels? And again will the front wheels clear the lower A arms? Sorry so long. Thanks for any advice.
