July 22, 2007I am pretty sure that my cv axles are almost shot because they make a clicking noise when I put it in 4lo and drive it a little bit. So what's a good price on some new cv axles and how hard would it be to replace them myself?

July 23, 2007You can get them from o'reilly's or napa. They're not too hard to install. I did it on my '89 chevy.
July 23, 2007Yes, try Napa. I'd avoid the refurb axles if possible... Napa has New axles for many vehicles now.
July 23, 2007Absolutly stay away from the Refurb's!! The boots they put on them are crap, and the axles break!! I just put my 4th refurbished axle on my truck last weekend. Only reason why I keep getting them is because they have a lifetime warranty. But definitly not worth the hassle, even if they do get replaced for free.
July 23, 2007What about advance? How long would it take me to replace them and how would I go about doing it?
July 24, 2007Unsure about advance.
When I did the job on my '89. You would...
Jack truck up. Take tire off. Take brake caliper and rotor off. There's three bolts holding the bearing housing on, take those out to remove bearing housing. Unbolt CV from differential. It may take some work, but I think you can work the CV out without removing anything else. May have to remove the shock, I don't remember. Install new one opposite of taking old out. Torque everything up, and that's it.
Others feel free to add anything I left out.
