| Performance General - Considering a tune | |

2/21/2012 7:52:34 AM Hey guys. I havent posted on here in awhile, havent seen much activity on here lately but I thought Id post a thread because I have been considering getting a custom tune on my 06 1500 4.8 Silverado crewcab 4x4. There is a guy about 30 minutes away from me thats doing it and hes advertising on Craigslist and he did a truck for a guy that works where I do and the guy highly recommended that I do it to mine. I called the guy and he told me he could adjust my shift points, increase mpg&hp and recalibrate my speedo since I am running 315s with 373s. All this for 200 bucks,so my question is should I invest in the custom tune? I have heard of Wheatley and other tunes ppl on here have mentioned but I have never had a truck thats been tuned so any opinions are welcome. Thanks guys. |

2/20/2012 8:18:15 AM Does anyone know anything good or bad about the Kelly safari tsr tires? I`m needing some new tires and have been considering these. About how many pavement / highway miles are you getting out of a set of these? What`s average cost of them? I need size 265/70r17. Also how they compare price wise and mileage wise to the Yokohama geolander at the genereal grabber at2 and the hankook at |

2/19/2012 3:59:29 PM Any other interest yet?Hey Rc, what are your thoughts on this?? I know it is still months away but I think we need to decide what we are doing and take care of it, also if we arent going to get a tent it gives us time to figure out other options. Gill |
| Interior - Replace Hood Release | |
TennesseeZ71 from Clarksville, TN |
2/18/2012 11:10:35 PM I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado with a broken hood release lever. I ordered a new one that I`ll get in a few days. I was told that it comes with the cable, but I don`t need the cable. The only part I need is the lever you pull to open the hood. Can anyone tell me if I can leave the old cable and just replace the lever and the plactic piece that it`s attached to? I have the pieces off where I can get to the lever part and it looks like theres only one nut to remove to get it off. I guess my main question is can the cable be removed from the plastic piece that has the lever? Thanks. |
| Silverado (c/k) (1999 - 2006) - Low oil pressure | |
Jkredchev02 from Sauk Rapids, MN |
2/18/2012 1:42:43 PM I am really getting fed up with my truck but can`t part ways with it. So I was wondering if I can get some help. Ok well I noticed some sludge in my oil and found that I had a cracked head. So ire place the heads. I have a 5.3L with 706 heads and put 862 heads from a 4.8L. Then I started to notice my oil pressure dropping so I changed the oil due to sludge. It got better then under a load I lost all oil pressure. So I changed the oil again and changed the oil sending unit. Now every time I start it when it`s cold the check oil pressure light comes on for 5 seconds and then the oil pressure goes to normal. Then just today again under a load my oil pressure completely dropped out again. So I shut it off and started it again and it went up but not to wear I feel it`s normal. HELP!!! |

| Humor - Norwegian Math Test | |
BobRam from Lincoln, NE |
2/16/2012 10:28:23 PM Ole, a Norwegian fella, wants a job, but the foreman doesn’t want to hire him, so he says he won`t hire him until he passes a little math test. Here is your first question, the foreman said. Without using numbers, represent the number 9.` Witout numbers?`The Norwegian says, `Dat`s easy.` and proceeds to draw three trees. ![]() What`s this?` the boss asks Vot! You got no brain? Tree and tree and tree make nine, says the Norwegian. Fair enough,` says the boss. Here`s your second question. Use the same rules, but this time represent the number 99.` The Norwegian stares into space for a while, then picks up the picture that he has just drawn and makes a smudge on each tree. `Dar ya go! ![]() The boss scratches his head and says, `How on earth do you get that to represent 99? You must be from Iowa… Each of DA trees is dirty now. So, it`s dirty tree, and dirty tree, and dirty tree. Dat`s 99. The boss is getting worried that he`s going to actually have to hire this Norwegian, so he says, All right, last question. Same rules again, but represent the number 100. The Norwegian fella stares into space some more, then he picks up the picture again and makes a little mark at the base of each tree and says, Dar ya go! Von hundert! ![]() The boss looks at the attempt. You must be nuts if you think that represents a hundred! The Norwegian winces and shakes his head…UFF-DAH…you must be a SVEDE from Iowa…he leans forward and points to the marks at the base of each tree and says, `A little dog come along and pooped by each tree. So now you got dirty tree and a turd, dirty tree and a turd, and dirty tree and a turd, and dat makes von hundert So, ven do I start? |
