January 28, 2009I have those little bumps and the black around the tip so what should i use? I was told just to use some steel wool and then put a good coat of chrome polish on after but i don''t to scratch with the steel wool *or* if i get a really fine steel wool will it scratch it? Thanks for the help.

January 28, 2009steel wool won''t scrach it. use some kind of cleaner to lubricate it, it will work much better. glass cleaner will work fine
January 29, 2009I would not use steel wool. I would use a 3m cleaning pad the green ones. I would think that the steel wool would make them rust.
January 29, 2009I used to use steel wool and Turtle Wax Chrome Polish together. Never had any problems. It will take rust off too!

January 31, 2009I have used steel wool for over 22 years at least on chome exhaust tips, bumpers, & etc., never had a problem *or* had any scratches. But you will definatly need to put some wax/polish on it afterwards to protect it.

October 18, 2009i use gasoline and elbow grease. works wonders! give it a try, you`ll be suprised.
October 18, 2009Mothers polish. You can use the polishing ball if you want, but no need to. Works great on anything that needs to shine.
February 9, 2010I`ve always used very fine steel wool and chrome polish at the same time and then wiped it clean with a cotton rag!
Do this method on my cycle pipes whenever I get to close with my boots too...
