February 19, 2008I am getting ready to order a set of Dynatech Headers and Corsa Touring Exhaust. I am contemplating getting the Off Road Package which deletes the cats. I live in a state that does no emission inspections. Is there a performance gain to be had with the cats eliminated? I will get the rear O2's programmed off if I go this route. I'm not looking to stir up the "your killing the environment" debate here. I'm simply asking whether or not there is a performance gain to be had by using the off road pipe instead of the dual cat setup....??? THANKS!

February 19, 2008WV does not check emissions either, but I went ahead and got the cats so everthing would bolt right up to my Corsa system. No welding. The only thing I would worry about is how the truck would run without the cats, and about the factory warranty.
February 19, 2008not a very noticeable difference. you might pick up a couple HP at the top end, but in my experience, the loss down low(especially on a street driven vehicle) more than negates it. I have punched out the cats on several of my cars, and its never any real gains to speak of. with out the cats, there is not enough back pressure to promote complete combustion, so you lose both low end power, and a lil gas mileage
February 19, 2008As far as bolting directly up....Dynatech offers a off road y pipe which bolts up directly to any factory or factory style cat back.
The factory warranty is over.
I'm not a die hard "remove the cats" guy, I'm just curious as to whatwould work best for me....
February 19, 2008yeah with dynatech the main difference is that the no cats option requires your current exhaust to be cut and welded, while the one with cats bolts directly on
I never heard anything about their on/off road headers, but I know I've seen 2 versions for my truck and that's what they told me the real difference is (fab or no-fab work)
let me know how that sounds because I already have a corsa and plan on getting dynatech's when I have money.
February 20, 2008/\ I would also like to know because I want to do the same. I would also want to put an electric cutout under there and see how that would sound.
