December 30, 2006I'm sure I know what the answer will be already, but, do you guys think I should take off the chrome strip on the side of my truck? Some people say it breaks it up a little, others say it would look better all black. Let me know what you all think. Thanks. Carrie

December 30, 2006i say leave it on cause you have crome wheels, now if you had black wheels id say take it off.
December 30, 2006I wondered about doing that to my old truck, and decided against it. After I took all the badges off, I thought the strip looked good, and did exactly like you said, it broke everything up nicely.
December 30, 2006If it was mine, I'd think about extending it to the rear wheels, just so it flows consistently. I've always thought they looked kind of unbalanced by not reaching wheelwell to wheelwell.
December 30, 2006Yeah, the only reason I have left it is because of the wheels, I did take all the badges off and felt a little strange leaving that on, so I thought I would ask for opinions. Thanks guys! Paul- I thought the same thing, why cut it off there and not go to the back.
December 30, 2006ive always wondered about that, some trucks the molding does go from wheel to wheel and others like yours and mine stop at the cab.
December 31, 2006I kinda like it, just for the extra protection from door dings, but I'd say most doors don't come anywhere close to yours since the truck is lifted. I also think it would look good without it. I did a photoshop of my truck and that's one of the things I did to it, but it had black wheels.
Best I can remember, it's just smooth painted metal behind there, so if you ever changed your mind, you could just get new tape and stick them back on.
December 31, 2006That is the biggest reason I have left it on, door dings, I'm pretty careful about where I park, but, there is always that one person. The other reason is because I dont know what's behind it and I wouldnt want to try removing it without knowing, the outcome could be worse.
December 31, 2006Take it off. The factory body line is enough to break it up.
December 31, 2006I'm almost positive there's no holes, but I'm not 100% sure.
They make a rubber wheel you put in a drill, kinda like an eraser. Once you heat up the strips and pry them off, that eraser will take off the adhesive left over and leave smooth paint. When i worked in the body shop, we used to debadge cars all the time and it wasn't that expensive, just in case you wanted to leave it to a pro.
December 31, 2006Only thing that will be behind them is fresh paint...
I dont know... the GMC ones look nice and classy... I say leave them... If they were ugly chevy ones then of course rip them off...
You can take it off one side and see... If you like them better on, buy some new ones and stick them back on...
